For decades, Mazda has been guided by a singular belief: that driving should be more than simply getting from one place to another. It should be an experience that connects driver, vehicle and road in perfect harmony. This philosophy, known as Jinba-Ittai, the feeling of oneness between horse and rider, remains at the heart of the all-new Mazda CX-5.

The CX-5 has long been one of Mazda’s most important global nameplates, and this latest evolution builds on that success by offering South African customers even greater levels of safety, connectivity, comfort, versatility and ownership confidence. Guided by our Jinba-Ittai philosophy, the new CX-5 has been designed to create a deeper connection between driver and vehicle, while delivering the practicality and reassurance that modern lifestyles demand. We are excited to welcome this remarkable SUV to South Africa and invite customers to discover why, with the new CX-5, Wonderrrr Awaits.

Inside the cabin, Mazda’s latest Human Machine Interface technology creates a seamless connection between driver, smartphone and vehicle. Wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™, Driver Personalisation and a Full Digital LCD Instrument Cluster form part of the CX-5’s driver-centric technology offering, ensuring key information is accessible, intuitive and easy to use.

That sense of confidence begins with safety. The all-new CX-5 has earned a five-star Euro NCAP safety rating under Euro NCAP’s 2025 testing protocol, achieving scores of 90% for Adult Occupant protection, 89% for Child Occupant protection, 93% for Vulnerable Road User protection and 83% for Safety Assist. This rating reflects a rigorous assessment of both passive safety and active technologies designed to help support the driver before a collision occurs.

A defining visual highlight is the introduction of Navy Blue Mica, an all-new exterior colour making its global debut on the Mazda CX-5. Developed as an evolution of a classic Mazda navy, the rich and sophisticated shade has been carefully refined to reveal its character across different climates, weather conditions and light. In bright sunlight it brings crisp blue highlights to the CX-5’s sculpted surfaces, while in softer or shadowed conditions it retains a deep, unmistakably navy character.

At the pinnacle of the range, the Mazda CX-5 Homura introduces a striking 15.5-inch centre display screen and electrostatic steering controls, elevating the cabin with a refined blend of digital functionality and craftsmanship. Additional technologies, including Cognitive Distraction Detection and Driver Abnormality Detection, further support Mazda’s commitment to helping drivers remain aware, supported and in control.

Confidence also continues beyond the drive. The all-new Mazda CX-5 is backed by MazdaCare, including a five-year, unlimited-kilometre service plan, a five-year, unlimited-kilometre factory warranty and five years of roadside assistance. Scheduled servicing is carried out by Mazda-trained technicians using Genuine Mazda parts and approved fluids, helping customers plan ownership costs with greater confidence.

The all-new CX-5 also features an enhanced suite of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems designed to improve awareness, reduce fatigue and provide reassurance in a variety of driving conditions. Technologies such as a 360° View Monitor, Blind Spot Monitoring, Lane Change Assist, Mazda Radar Cruise Control, Proactive Driving Assistance, i-Activsense safety technologies and a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System work seamlessly to help drivers remain more aware of their surroundings.

Mazda has also applied advanced engineering to the everyday details that shape the driving experience. Enhanced vibration resistance in the door mirrors helps maintain a clearer rearward view during high-speed driving and on uneven road surfaces, while newly developed high-performance sound-absorbing materials contribute to a quieter, more refined cabin.

Efficiency has also been considered as part of the complete driving experience. Mazda engineers refined the CX-5’s aerodynamic performance through detailed airflow management around the vehicle’s front, wheels and rear body, resulting in a 5% reduction in aerodynamic drag coefficient compared with the previous model, while the vehicle’s overall drag area has been reduced by 2% despite its larger body and improved interior space.

Beneath the sculpted exterior, a responsive 2.5-litre petrol engine delivers 132kW of power at 6,000rpm and 240Nm of torque at 4,000rpm. Engineered to embody Mazda’s Jinba-Ittai philosophy, the powertrain delivers smooth acceleration, confident cornering and an effortless sense of control across the varied demands of everyday driving.

The all-new CX-5 has also evolved to meet the practical needs of modern lifestyles. Rear passengers benefit from increased knee room and headroom, while an extended rear door opening and wider sill area make entry, exit and loading easier. The luggage compartment has been expanded, with cargo capacity increasing to 964 litres with the rear seats folded, offering greater flexibility for work, family, sport and adventure.

Ride and handling have been further refined through Mazda’s model-based damper development, helping to balance stable handling with a more supple, comfortable ride across everyday road conditions. The result is an SUV that feels composed and capable, yet genuinely enjoyable to drive.
